Retro Environmental, a well-established Selective Demolition and Environmental Remediation Company, is seeking to hire Full-Time certified Asbestos Supervisors.
Job Summary: The Asbestos Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing and managing abatement and demolition projects. They are responsible for leading a team of workers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and coordinating project activities to achieve successful outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Coordination:
- Collaborate with superintendents to understand project requirements, objectives, and timelines.
- Develop project plans, including daily/weekly work tasks, resource allocation, and equipment needs.
- Coordinate and supervise the execution of abatement and demolition activities, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective measures as needed.
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Supervise and provide guidance to a team of abatement and demolition workers.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide feedback and coaching to ensure high-quality work.
- Train team members on proper abatement and demolition techniques, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, daily toolbox talks, and training sessions to address safety concerns and promote awareness.
- Identify potential safety hazards and implement preventive measures to minimize risks.
- Ensure the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) by all team members.
- Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that all abatement and demolition work is performed in accordance with applicable regulations, codes, and standards.
- Conduct inspections and quality checks to verify the quality and accuracy of work.
- Secure and process any scrap metal, and properly segregate waste and assure proper classification.
- Client Communication:
- Communicate and collaborate with clients, superintendents, and management to address project-related issues and concerns.
- Provide daily regular project updates and maintain good relationships with clients.
- Address client inquiries and resolve any complaints or issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including records of work performed, daily logs, incident reports, and inspections.
- Send daily jobsite and equipment photographs at the start and end of the workday.
- Prepare daily/weekly project plans and submit them to the associate project manager.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- Must be willing to travel to project throughout the state.
- Asbestos Supervisor certification and state license.
· Must be able to work 10-hour shifts, day and night shifts, weekends and overtime when necessary.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications.
- Previous experience in abatement, demolition, or related construction fields.
- Strong knowledge of abatement and demolition techniques, practices, and regulations.
- Leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Solid understanding of safety regulations and the ability to enforce compliance.
- Effective communication skills to interact with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
- Fluent in English. Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must pass physical fit for duty test, asbestos respirator fit test as well as be cleared to work around asbestos and other hazardous materials.
- Must be able to lift 75lbs, climb ladders, and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Capacity to wear protective suits and respirators for extended periods.
- Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- A drug and alcohol screen will be conducted.
