Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position located in St. Petersburg, FL. As an Environmental Specialist, you will contribute to ensuring compliance with environmental policies, performing evaluations related to environmental health and safety (EHS), managing compliance measures, and providing environmental assessments. Additional responsibilities include preparing detailed reports, collaborating with stakeholders, and staying informed on regulatory guidelines and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
- Familiarity with Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) regulations, programs, and databases
- Working knowledge of GIS Mapping
- Working knowledge of environmental contamination issues including soil and groundwater impacts, petroleum releases, and common recognized environmental conditions (RECs)
- Previous experience or exposure to Phase I ESAs, field sampling, environmental report writing, or environmental consulting
- Located in or familiar with the Tampa Bay Area region
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
- Interest in environmental due diligence, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), and environmental consulting
- Ability to conduct site inspections and travel locally throughout Florida as needed
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
Preferred Qualifications
- Applied knowledge of environmental contamination issues including soil and groundwater impacts, petroleum releases, and common recognized environmental conditions (RECs)
- Performance of Phase I ESAs, field sampling, environmental report writing, or environmental consulting
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus, but not required
- Understanding or former experience performing research including property appraiser data, aerial imagery, data analysis of environmental programs at the FDEP and EPA levels
