Responsibilities:
- Aid pipefitters in the layout, assembly, and installation of piping systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications and blueprints.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required angles using hand and power tools, preparing materials for installation.
- Assist with the installation of pipe systems, supports, fixtures, and equipment for various piping systems such as water, gas, and steam.
- Inspect and test installed systems to identify leaks and other issues, making necessary adjustments and repairs as needed.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, ensuring a safe work environment by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and participating in safety meetings.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, ensuring they are cleaned, stored properly, and available for use when needed.
- Help maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered during the project.
- Identify and resolve issues that may arise during the project, providing practical solutions to maintain project timelines and quality standards.
- Assist in training and mentoring less experienced helpers, promoting skill development and adherence to best practices within the pipefitting trade.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a pipefitter helper or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of pipefitting techniques and practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of relevant vocational training or an apprenticeship program is preferred.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools related to pipefitting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work in conditions of varying heat and cold where noise levels are at or above 90 decibels
