Job Summary
Our heavy-duty fleet includes vacuum trucks, air movers, and tow trucks. We also have light-duty vehicles combined with trailers that exceed 26,000 pounds at times. We are looking for CDL Class A drivers (preferably with Haz and tanker endorsements).
Applicants must be able to accurately and timely complete required paperwork, including manifests, bills of lading, trip logs, etc. Applicants would also fill the role of Spill Response Technician and / or as a Tow Truck Driver if needed.
- Travel required – mostly regional (NC, SC, and VA); rare overnights, weekends, evenings, and/or holidays.
- Ability to work in various conditions indoors and outdoors such as elevated, subsurface, and confined spaces.
- On-call is required every third weekend.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain equipment (i.e., truck and trailer, vac-truck, vac-trailer, backhoe, forklift, skid steer, pumps, generators) in accordance with all policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure a safe and productive environment; basic working knowledge of all equipment utilized; training will be provided.
- Clean driving record, drug screen, and background check required
- Perform emergency response activities; work with crews to perform emergency response clean-up, non-hazardous waste clean-up, and the handling of non-hazardous waste materials.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Load and unload cargo as necessary, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide support and assistance to customers, co-workers, and stakeholders.
- Assist in various types of oil spill clean-up activities as needed.
- Follow the required environmental, health, and safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
- Participation in an OSHA-mandated medical surveillance program (i.e., respiratory protection, hearing conservation, bloodborne pathogens); safety training will be provided.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving with a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Strong knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety regulations related to commercial driving.
- Ability to load and unload cargo efficiently while maintaining safety standards.
- Excellent route planning skills with a focus on time management and punctuality.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers and team members.
- Attention to detail in maintaining vehicle records and compliance documentation.
