Brief Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sanitation Associate is responsible for providing custodial services to all departments within our manufacturing facility. This position is expected to ensure an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for all staff and visitors, by performing a variety of special cleaning operations while also assisting in preparing the facility for its day-to-day operation.

The physical demands and work environment described below represent the activities and surroundings of the position(s). Daily contact with other departmental personnel. Occasionally works in all weather conditions, extreme temperatures, around chemicals and chemical fumes/emissions, dusty & clean environments. Frequently works with electrical and mechanical hazards. When working with surplus and scrap materials, will frequently be required to work outside and/or in an unaired conditioned warehouse. Continuous use of vision, hearing and speech. Frequent sitting, standing, walking and occasional bending. Will lift, carry, pull / push, and reach for supplies and on occasion lifting (up to 50 lbs.) while performing various aspects of the job. Will need to climb stairs, climb ladders, lift and move objects, requires manual dexterity and repetitive use of keyboard/computer devices/power tools/machining equipment; Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
Hours / Special Conditions
12 hour rotating shifts 4 days on and 4 days off; Rotating shifts requires working night shifts; Present to fulfill job duties & meet operational demands/support; Schedule may vary depending on plant operational needs thus flexibility is required which may include long days, evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime; Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Essential Job Functions
- Cleaning the entire facility and/or grounds (e.g. all areas on production floor, offices/cubicles, restrooms, locker rooms, conference rooms, training rooms, cafeteria, warehouse, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
- Performs minor, job related, maintenance on custodial equipment, office furniture and fixtures (e.g. change ballasts, vacuum cleaner belts, bags, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper functioning and usability of items.
- Responds to inquiries from staff, delivery men, and/or visitors for the purpose of providing information, taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Replenishes breakroom, cafeteria, offices/cubicles, conference rooms and restroom supplies (e.g. light bulbs, paper towels, soap, trash removal, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring adequate quantities for daily use.
- Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, blood spills, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Secures facilities and grounds (e.g. doors, gates, alarms, lights, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and/or potential liability.
- Supports other site maintenance staff (e.g. production team, office personnel, grounds, trades, etc.) for the purpose of completing site custodial activities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Industrial cleaning experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Trained to operate equipment such as an aerial lift, scissor lift, etc.
- Familiar with personal protective equipment.
- Knowledge with proper handling procedures of chemicals/solvents.
- Preferred – High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Aptitude in spatial reasoning, attention to detail, and skilled craftsmanship
- Ability to operate heavy machinery
- Ability to follow proper safety procedures
- Ability to obtain certification and operate chemical equipment
- Working knowledge of all automation standard practices
- Proactive and takes ownership to resolve problems and issues
- Ability to work with employees from many different cultures and backgrounds
- Strong organizational and planning skills and housekeeping standards.
- Ability to plan and execute major tasks.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to interact well with vendors, team members, staff, contractors, and others.
- Willing to participate in meetings and work with all teams.
- Demonstrate and initiate safe work practices.
- Self-starter, capable of self-supervision and willing to accept a variety of assignments.
- Strives to enhance the overall knowledge and performance level of self and others.
- A demonstrated experience where quick-thinking and problem solving plays a critical role
- Preference will be given to qualified local candidates
- General knowledge of basic accessing information on the computer or entering data in a computer system
