Customer Service Associate – Gift Shop & Office Supplies Retail
Position Summary
The Customer Service Associate is responsible for delivering friendly, knowledgeable service to customers in a retail shop specializing in gifts, stationery, art and office supplies. This role assists customers with product selection, manages point-of-sale transactions, maintains organized and attractive merchandise displays, and supports daily store operations.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet customers promptly and provide welcoming, friendly, attentive service.
- Assist customers in locating products such as gifts, greeting cards, stationery, art supplies, and office essentials.
- Offer product recommendations and suggest complementary items to enhance purchases.
- Answer questions about merchandise, availability, and pricing.
Sales & Checkout
- Operate the cash register and process purchases accurately (cash, credit, or digital payments).
- Handle returns and exchanges according to store policy.
- Promote add-on items and seasonal products at checkout.
Merchandising
- Restock shelves, displays, and impulse items near the register.
- Maintain neat, organized, and visually appealing product displays.
- Assist with seasonal merchandising and promotional displays.
Store Operations
- Monitor inventory levels and notify management when items need to be reordered.
- Receive and unpack deliveries, price merchandise, and place items on the sales floor.
- Maintain cleanliness of the store, checkout counter, and customer areas.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Friendly, approachable, and dependable.
- Basic math and cash-handling ability.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
Typical Schedule
- Part-time or full-time hours.
- Availability for weekdays and Saturdays.
Pay: $17.13 - $20.00 per hour
