Role Description The Access Control Tech is a full-time, on-site role based in Carrollton, TX. This position is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining access control, CCTV/IP camera systems, intrusion alarms, and other low-voltage equipment at customer locations. Day-to-day tasks include performing system start-ups, running and terminating cabling, mounting devices, verifying system performance, and documenting work completed. The role also involves troubleshooting equipment and software issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and coordinating with project managers, general contractors, and clients to ensure timely and accurate project delivery. The Access Control Tech will follow safety guidelines, adhere to industry standards, and provide clear communication regarding project status and technical findings.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing, isolating, and resolving issues with access control, CCTV, and intrusion alarm systems.
- Candidates should possess preventive maintenance experience, including routine inspections, servicing equipment, and replacing components to avoid system failures.
- Candidates should possess instrumentation and calibration skills to ensure sensors, controllers, and devices operate accurately within required specifications.
- Candidates should possess fundamental electricity knowledge, including low-voltage wiring, power supplies, circuits, and safe work practices.
- Experience installing and configuring access control panels, card readers, electronic locks, cameras, NVRs/DVRs, and related hardware and software is highly beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals, and to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and collaborate with team members and clients on-site.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites; willingness to work in varying environments and occasionally lift or carry equipment.
- Prior experience in low-voltage, security systems, or access control installation is preferred; relevant technical certifications or vocational training are a plus.
