Position: Staff Accountant Reporting to: Controller FLSA Status: Exempt Location: Denver, CO Our client, a private Denver based real estate investment firm, is seeking a skilled, highly motivated, and entrepreneurial individual to join the team as a Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate will have the demonstrated ability to analyze and process complex data, perform reconciliations, and prepare accurate financial reporting in support of organizational decision-making. About the Position The Staff Accountant is responsible for balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement analysis, and preparation of statements and reports for use by management and other stakeholders. The role completes closing activities, assists with audits and projects, and collaborates with colleagues across the team to maintain accuracy and integrity in financial data. The Accountant works closely with the Controller and asset management team to maintain consolidated investment financial statements, balance sheet subsidiary schedule reconciliations, support month-end and year-end close, and ensure accurate reporting across a wide variety of entities. The role also maintains cash balances, manages accounts payable, provides schedules and analysis to management, and contributes recommendations to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal systems. Responsibilities - Work with accounting ERP system to maintain comprehensive and accurate entity consolidated financial statements and investment/investor ledgers - Maintain and reconcile cash balances and oversee cash activity, ensuring timely payment and high-quality input to accounting software - Completion of Month/Quarter/Year End closing tasks and preparation of financial statements and related schedules - Maintain CIP and fixed asset schedules for operating properties - Oversight and reconciliation of intercompany AR/AP activities - Coordinate with related party accounting teams to provide support for other finance and accounting projects - Regularly collaborate with Controller on standard process improvements and optimizations - Ad hoc reporting as needed - Provide support to the tax department for compliance and delivery of financials for tax return preparation - Special projects will include participation in things like Cost Certifications and Audits The Ideal Candidate Posses: Skills needed - Financial Reporting - Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) - GL Accounting - Investment Accounting - Fixed Asset Accounting - Treasury Support - Budgeting - Accounts Payable - Balance Sheet Reconciliation Qualifications required for your success - Bachelors’ degree in accounting - 3 years real estate accounting experience - Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel - Experience with Business Central - Ability to oversee complex consolidations and data analysis Additional Helpful Experience Includes - Experience with corporate accounting activities intercompany billing, expense reporting, etc - Experience with MRI Property Management X Personal attributes that support your success - Strong organizational and time management skills - High attention to detail - Self-motivated with ability to manage competing priorities - Demonstrates discretion, integrity, and expertise while serving as a trusted advisor to principals and colleagues. - Collaborates respectfully and effectively with others, contributing to a supportive, team-oriented environment. - Approaches challenges with curiosity, bold thinking, and a commitment to continuous learning and innovation. - Maintains a strong focus on results, consistently exercising sound judgment and decision-making. - Brings a visionary mindset, planning strategically for the future with imagination and insight. - Committed to excellence and actively engages with others to accomplish shared goals.
