Campus Police Officer (Part-Time) (Extended)

Position Summary

Provide for the safety and wellbeing of the faculty, staff, students and visitors. Provide a secure environment through crime prevention and control, criminal investigation, traffic and parking supervision, disaster coordination, maintenance of public order and other related services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide foot and vehicular patrol of the campus.
  • Respond to and investigate all incidents on campus including but not limited to motor vehicle accidents or college violations
  • Conduct misdemeanor and felony investigations including but not limited to interviewing victims, suspects and offenders, collecting evidence and preparing case files.
  • Enforce criminal and traffic laws, making arrests, and issuing summons as required.
  • Complete detailed incident reports.
  • Monitor authorized student activates for adherence to college policies.
  • Lock and unlock offices and buildings as required.
  • Transport mail to post office when requested.
  • Transport bank deposits for college business office.
  • Detect and report hazardous conditions including but not limited to potholes, light outages, obstructions, etc
  • Complete 12 hours of continuing education annually as required by APOSTC and other training as designated by the Chief of Police.
  • Must be able to work various shifts
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police.
  • Respond to fire alarms and advise fire department when necessary.
  • Administer emergency first aid/CPR.
  • Assisting motorists with weak or dead batteries.
  • Deliver messages to people who cannot be reached by phone or radio.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Associate Degree from an accredited institution, preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of equivalent work experience, required.
  • Current Alabama driver's license, required.
  • APOSTC certification, required.
Background Investigation
As required by the Code of Alabama 36-21-55 and the Alabama College Chancellor’s Policy, final applicants will compete the following before an offer of employment is made:

  • Drug Screen (Chancellor’s Policy)
  • Psychological Review (Chancellor’s Policy)
  • Polygraph (Chancellor’s Policy)

Hourly Rate: $25.00 (NO BENEFITS)
