The Port Tankerman will provide on-the-job training and mentorship to Tankermen in accordance with Enterprise Marine Services SMS. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Maintain extensive knowledge of Enterprise Marine Services SMS.
- Attend Deckhand and Tankerman classes to evaluate course content and provide recommendations.
- Properly document and conduct Tankerman audits and evaluations while the Tankerman is performing tasks on duty.
- Assess Tankerman Trainees and determine eligibility for promotion based on performance.
- Perform operational checks on barges to ensure compliance with Enterprise Marine and USCG regulations.
- Train tankermen on Declarations of Inspection (DOIs), Job Safety Analysis, and Boat Load Plans.
- Assist with incident investigations.
- Provide advice on barge operational issues as needed.
- Supervise lightering operations when necessary.
- Perform maintenance on vessels and tank barges as required.
- Provide guidance and training to deckhands and new Tankermen as needed.
- Assist with operations on a 24/7 basis when on call or available for consultation during scheduled days off.
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must possess a valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (T.W.I.C.).
- Must possess a valid Merchant Mariners Document endorsed as Tankerman PIC (Barge) DL.
- Must have 10 years of experience as a Tankerman.
- Must have Tankerman experience with all cargos.
- A high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Must have a clean record with no spills or violations in the last 12 months.
- Preferably has Tankerman experience on 30K BBL tank barges.
- Must be able to perform all tasks required of a Deckhand and Tankermen.
- Must have a fundamental knowledge of DOIs, Job Safety Analysis, and Boat Load Plans.
- Must have a fundamental knowledge of maintenance procedures, tools, and equipment onboard inland liquid tows.
- Must be flexible and available to work any work schedule.
- Must have the ability to get along with others in close quarters.
- Must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with office personnel, vessel crew, and dock personnel.
- Preferably has experience with Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Extensive knowledge of Enterprise Marine Services SMS is preferred.
- Must satisfactorily pass background, physical and drug screen.
