Job Title: Activities Director

We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Activity Director to inspire and engage residents in meaningful activities that enhance their quality of life. This vital role involves designing, coordinating, and implementing diverse recreational programs tailored to the needs and interests of seniors, including those with memory impairments such as Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering a vibrant community atmosphere, promoting social interaction, and supporting residents’ emotional well-being through creative programming and personalized care. Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Design and implement activities in the following categories: physical (exercise), social, recreational, intellectual/educational, creative, entertainment, religious, service, and special requests of the residents.
  • Provide resident orientation and complete the activity assessment for each resident within one week after moving in and update annually.
  • Invite and/or remind residents to participate in planned activities, assisting them to and from activities.
  • Document resident engagement each day, tracking the data to observe engagement trends.
  • Develop a diverse monthly calendar that incorporates activities seven days per week, including weekend activities. Coordinate community outings, events, and special celebrations, while assisting as a chaperone.
  • Arrange transportation for activity outings and regularly scheduled group trips and drive the company vehicle as needed.
  • Publish monthly community newsletter and distribute it to residents.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement decoration of the community for special events, seasons and holidays.
  • Coordinate food needs with the dining department for scheduled events and occasions.
  • Identify and requisition needed supplies for planned activities.
  • Assist with development of activity budget and operate within budget guidelines.
  • Assist in planning and implementing marketing events that promote the community to potential residents.
  • Support social media content creation and posting for the community.
  • Market the community to the local area by developing professional contacts in the area and inviting area organizations into the community on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance resident experiences.
  • Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to resident, community operations and personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED or higher
  • Current Kansas CNA certification
  • Experience in a senior living setting or similar field
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in long-term care, dementia care or assisted living environments
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as PCC
  • Background in geriatrics, Alzheimer's, dementia care or working with individuals with developmental disabilities

  • Proficient computer skills and use of Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to assist residents with mobility and stand for extended periods
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Creative thinking and ability to design engaging programs for diverse resident interests
  • Ability to manage budgets and schedules
  • Must possess the ability to interact with team members, residents, family members, visitors, state agencies, and the public
  • Knowledge of state agency regulations and MDS assessment processes.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, staff, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
