Job Description Summary Strong community development organizations (CDOs) are essential to creating and sustaining thriving neighborhoods. However, many CDOs in Detroit face challenges in accessing funding, technical assistance, and capacity-building resources needed to maximize their impact. These organizations play a vital role in preserving affordable housing, supporting small businesses, and advancing economic mobility for residents. Without sustained investment, their ability to drive meaningful change is at risk. In response to this need, the CDO Fund was established to provide direct financial support, technical assistance, and capacity-building opportunities to Detroit’s CDOs. Managed by Enterprise, the CDO Fund strengthens local organizations by equipping them with the tools and resources necessary to implement impactful programs, secure additional funding, and drive long-term community transformation. Position Overview The CDO Fund is seeking an intern to support the operations of the department and to engage in meaningful issues affecting Detroit residents. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and effective team player eager to support the Enterprise team and its partners. This role is dynamic and evolving, requiring flexibility, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. This position is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is invested in mission-driven work. The internship is expected to start on June 1, 2026, and end by August 21, 2026. Approximately 35 hours a week is expected, with at least two days working in-person at the Detroit Office. Job Description Responsibilities Create a standard operating procedures manual for the CDO Fund Sort large data sets and create organized databases Develop interactive dashboards to visually represent data Collaborate with team members across the department to advance cross‑functional projects and ensure consistent execution of deliverables Participate in meetings, capture notes, and support follow‑up actions as needed Other duties as assigned Qualifications Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in community development, economics, public administration, business, sociology, or a related field Experience creating Standard-Operating-Procedures or similar types of manuals Experience visually representing data and creating dashboards using PowerBI, Tableau or Salesforce Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering, basic formulas, data validation), Word and Adobe Acrobat Strong grammar, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to produce high-quality written products Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely express thoughts and ideas verbally Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities and responsibilities to meet deadlines Capable of taking direction and working within a team to collaboratively meet the project objectives Experience in a nonprofit setting Dedication to community development Experience working with a diverse range of communities and people Since 2020, the CDO Fund has leveraged $40 million to support approximately 35 CDOs across all Detroit city council districts. This eco-system employs approximately 450 people per year and has resulted in $200 million in neighborhood economic and program deployment. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to strengthening Detroit’s community development ecosystem and make a lasting impact on neighborhoods and residents. Total Rewards at Enterprise: You will be working with a group of talented professionals who are motivated by serving the community and addressing the need for affordable housing. The base pay for this role is $20 to $24 for undergraduate students and $24-$28 for graduate students, depending on level of skills and experience. The salary range for this position is represented by the low and high end of the range for the amount to be paid for the position. Salaries paid at Enterprise will vary based on factors that may include skills, education, location, experience, and performance.
