Position Overview
Entera Hospice is seeking a proven Hospice Business Development professional who can immediately generate qualified hospice referrals and drive sustained census growth. This role is ideal for a solid, experienced hospice liaison with deep relationships in the Chicagoland hospice community and a track record of closing referral sources.
This is a revenue‑driven, field‑based role focused on physician offices, hospitals, nursing homes, senior living communities, and post‑acute settings. Hospice experience is required. Home health–only experience will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate consistent hospice referrals that convert to admissions and drive census growth
- Actively own and manage the territory across Cook and DuPage Counties
- Build, strengthen, and maintain high‑value referral relationships with:
- Physicians and medical practices
- Hospitals and discharge planners
- Skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and rehab centers
- Senior living and assisted living communities
- Conduct face‑to‑face field sales, presentations, and follow‑ups
- Meet or exceed monthly referral and admission targets
- Educate referral sources on hospice eligibility, benefits, and Entera’s value proposition
- Identify new referral opportunities and expand market share
- Represent Entera Hospice with professionalism, urgency, and integrity
- Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure smooth referral‑to‑admission workflows
- Establish Entera Hospice as a trusted, preferred hospice partner in the Chicagoland market
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of recent hospice‑only business development experience
- Established referral relationships in Chicagoland (Cook & DuPage Counties required)
- Demonstrated success in hospice referral generation and census growth
- Strong understanding of hospice eligibility, regulations, and referral timing
- Proven ability to work independently in the field and manage territory effectively
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills
- Self‑motivated, results‑driven, and comfortable being held accountable to numbers
