Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Role is working on components with nickel alloy composites for turbines.
- Design fixtures and workholding for 5-axis grinding centers, including Makino G-series machines, and supporting machining and EDM operations.
- Work from existing, well-defined part models in Siemens NX to create fixtures that locate complex airfoil geometry accurately and repeatably.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience designing fixtures, tooling, or workholding for precision machining or grinding.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX, including modeling, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
- Extensive GD&T experience, including datum schemes and tolerance stack-ups.
- Experience with 6-point nest (3-2-1) locating principles for complex or contoured parts.
- Working knowledge of fixture manufacturing and use on CNC mills, such as Haas or similar machines, and sinker EDM.
- Ability to read and create engineering drawings to ASME Y14.5.
Preferred Skills:
- Fixture design for turbine airfoils, including blades, vanes, and nozzles, in aerospace or power generation.
- Grinding fixture experience, especially for 5-axis or creep-feed grinding; Makino G-series experience is a plus.
- Understanding of clamping forces, part distortion, and thermal effects in grinding.
- Experience with nickel-based superalloy parts.
- Familiarity with CMM inspection and designing fixtures that support inspection.
- Background in AS9100 or similarly regulated quality environments.
