Sr. Java Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking several hands-on Senior Software Engineers to design, develop, and support scalable enterprise applications. The engineers will work within collaborative Agile teams and contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, including architecture, development, testing, deployment, performance optimization, and production support.

Successful candidates will have strong expertise in Java, AWS, SQL databases, and NoSQL databases. Some positions require Spring/Spring Boot. One position also requires Alfresco. A successful candidate should have the ability to independently solve complex technical problems and deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable software.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
• Contribute to system design across the API, application, data-persistence, and cloud-infrastructure layers.
• Design data models and develop efficient queries using both relational SQL databases and NoSQL technologies.
• Develop and deploy cloud-native solutions using AWS services such as Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, ECS, Fargate, Step Functions, and Aurora.
• Write clean, modular, secure, and well-tested code following object-oriented design principles and established engineering standards.
• Develop unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews, test automation, and continuous integration and deployment.
• Troubleshoot complex application issues and improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Identify technical risks and cross-team dependencies early and recommend practical solutions.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and other engineering teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced engineers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5 years of software-engineering experience, including substantial recent hands-on Java development.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on AWS application-development and deployment experience.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or Aurora.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, or similar technologies.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, or event-driven applications.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, performance tuning, and secure coding.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision while contributing effectively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with databases, containerized applications, or event-driven AWS architectures.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, or Fargate.
• Financial-services, securities, regulatory, or capital-markets experience.
• Experience working in an Agile or Scrum delivery environment
