About Entabeni

Entabeni (noun; Zulu: "the mountain")

We build software and hardware that powers independent ski resorts. We provide point of sale, ticketing, RFID access control, rentals, and the full stack — The full stack-from the database to the hardware.

We're the company behind Indy Ski Pass and Black Mountain, New Hapshire. We work exclusively with independent operators. No waterparks. No trade shows. No VC chasing growth at all costs. We are small and dedicated team that works to understand problems and then solves them.

What makes us different:

- 9 years. Zero layoffs. Stable company and remarkable growth.

- 25% of our team was born outside North America — we handle visa situations.

- We own our property our Headquarters in Grand County, Colorado; 90 minutes from DIA and in the center of world-class outdoor recreation. We currently have an East Coast base in Jackson, New Hampshire at Black Mountain.

- We value in-person collaboration. This is not a remote role with occasional meetups.

The Role

This is not a typical software engineering job. As a React / Forward Deployed Engineer, you will be the bridge between our product and the ski resorts that depend on it. You will write code, install hardware, debug systems in real-world conditions, train operators, and bring back insights that shape what we build next.

You will be mostly office-based in Grand County, with travel to partner resorts when deployments, integrations, or on-site support require it.

What You Will Actually Do

Build and Ship Software

- Write production code across our stack (React, React Native, Electron, Ruby, Postgres, Java)

- Design and maintain APIs that talk to hardware such as POS terminals, RFID scanners, receipt printers, and card readers

- Debug problems across the full stack

- Write tests, review code, and maintain high engineering standards

Deploy and Integrate Systems

- Install and configure systems at ski resorts

- Integrate with existing resort infrastructure

- Deploy technology in harsh mountain environments

Own the Customer Relationship

- Train resort staff

- Troubleshoot issues on-site and remotely

- Build long-term customer relationships

Close the Feedback Loop

- Observe how software performs in the field

- Bring back insights that influence product decisions

- Advocate for customers
