Location: Jacksonville, FL
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 7:30 AM-4:30 PM, Friday, 7:30 AM-1:00 PM
Pay: $17.00-$18.00 per hour
Position Summary
ENT Specialists of North Florida and Meier Plastic Surgery are seeking a professional, friendly, and detail-oriented Medical Front Office Specialist to join our team. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a critical role in creating an exceptional patient experience.
The Medical Front Office Specialist is responsible for patient check-in and check-out, scheduling appointments, answering phones, collecting payments, verifying insurance information, and communicating effectively with patients, providers, and staff. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-service oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced medical office environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain proficiency in the Practice Management System.
- Greet patients in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
- Provide, collect, and review required patient forms and obtain necessary signatures.
- Answer incoming phone calls promptly and assist patients with scheduling, questions, and requests.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
- Perform patient check-in and check-out processes accurately.
- Collect copays, balances, and other patient payments in accordance with office policies.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations and referrals as required.
- Assist with scanning, filing, data entry, photocopying, and other administrative tasks.
- Address patient concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with providers and staff to ensure efficient daily operations.
Qualifications
Preferred Experience
- Previous medical front office, medical receptionist, or healthcare customer service experience preferred.
- Experience with insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorizations preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management software preferred.
- Understanding of PPO, HMO, Medicare, and commercial insurance plans.
