Position: Saw Operator
Reports to: Floor Lead
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Position Responsibilities
Saw Operator is responsible for operating a range of saws, to cut materials to specific dimensions. They are required to interpret technical drawings and work orders to determine the type of saw blade to be used, the size of the material to be cut and other specifications. The operator must also be familiar with various saw maintenance practices, regularly inspect and report any damage or issues with equipment, as well as following safety procedures when handling and cutting materials. A successful Saw Operator needs to have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to set up and operate saws under direction
Ability to read and understand work orders
Ability to use rulers, micrometers, vernier calipers, gauges and dial indicator
Ability to read blueprints
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to utilize shop mathematics
