Position: Engineering Internship

Position Responsibilities
This internship provides hands-on experience in aircraft design, manufacturing, and research & development within a fully integrated rotorcraft OEM environment. Interns will work directly with engineers, technicians, and managers to support ongoing projects that improve product performance, manufacturability, and innovation.
Key Focus Areas
Depending on interests and department placement, interns may support projects such as:
Design Engineering
Menominee, Michigan – onsite at Enstrom Helicopter’s main facility.

Approximately 10–12 weeks (Summer 2026)

Design Engineering
- Weight reduction and cost savings initiatives
- Tail rotor gearbox studies and piston system improvements
- Structural analysis of seat assemblies
- CADKEY-to-SolidWorks drawing conversions and model updates
- Development of Manufacturing Instruction Sheets (MIS)
- Process documentation and standardization across fabrication and assembly lines
- Production improvement and quality enhancement initiatives
- Fiberglass shop process optimization
- Prototype instrumentation and data collection
- Support for flight test and ground test setups
- Research into new materials, sensors, and process technologies
- Design and fabrication of test fixtures or prototype components
- Gain real-world experience in aircraft manufacturing and design environments
- Learn engineering documentation, process flow, and product development lifecycle
- Build teamwork and communication skills through cross-functional collaboration
- Apply classroom knowledge to solve practical engineering problems
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (Junior or Senior status preferred)
- Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Professional demeanor and presentation both in the office and on the telephone.
- Detail oriented; accuracy is essential
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office tools; including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
- Ability to set up and maintain record keeping systems.
- Ability to work under pressure, with multiple personality types.
- Experience in an office manufacturing environment a plus.
