Oil & Gas Industry Sales Director – Denver, CO
Ensign Drilling is seeking a Sales Director to join its Denver, CO team, and support direct sales and business development efforts. This opportunity is ideal for a driven, relationship-focused professional who builds strong customer partnerships, understands market needs, and applies drilling industry knowledge to support regional growth.
Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development and Contracts, this role partners with customers and internal teams to support sales activities, contract coordination, market development, and long-term customer relationship management.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have experience in the onshore drilling industry, strong technical aptitude, business acumen, effective communication skills, and the ability to build trust with customers and internal stakeholders. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, professional, and interested in growing within a sales and business development career path.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships with well operators across the assigned region.
- Drive business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, expanding customer networks, and gathering market insights.
- Assist with drilling day-work contracts, invoicing criteria, and accounts receivable coordination.
- Use analytical and problem-solving skills to support customer, contract, and market-related decisions.
- Travel within the region as needed, estimated at approximately 25% of the time.
- Occasionally work outside normal office hours to support customer and business needs.
What We’re Looking For
- Preferred educational background includes a four-year degree in engineering, business, marketing, sales management, or a related field; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
- At least five years of experience in the oil and gas drilling industry; direct drilling contractor experience is preferred.
- Strong communication, networking, and relationship-building skills, with demonstrated success in a sales environment.
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively while navigating customer organizations and working cross-functionally with internal teams.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and eligibility to drive a Company vehicle.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with email and presentation tools.
