What are the responsibilities and job description for the Founding Product Lead position at Ensense AI?
About Ensense
Ensense AI is building the next generation of Physical AI. Our mission is to bring transparency to public places through scalable sensing and software innovations that empower people, organizations, and governments to make better decisions.
We are building a Physical Intelligence Layer over streets that is continuously updating, captured through innovative multimodal sensing and transformed into actionable intelligence by advanced spatiotemporal AI systems. Our work spans the full stack from sensing to intelligence, enabling a new class of real-time environmental, safety, and infrastructure insights.
Ensense AI is a high caliber, early stage team of engineers, scientists, and operators who value curiosity, engineering precision, and measurable impact. Every team member is hands on and directly responsible for defining and advancing the state of the art in Physical AI.
About the Role
We are looking for a Founding Product Lead who will define what Ensense AI becomes. You will own the product direction from the ground up by shaping the roadmap, discovering use cases, building features, designing workflows, and ensuring our technology solves urgent, real-world problems at scale.
You'll work hand-in-hand with the founders and across engineering, sensing, AI research, and field deployment. You’ll move seamlessly between customer conversations, technical deep dives, and hands-on execution. This is a rare opportunity to build a new product category.
This role is ideal for a product leader who thrives in ambiguity, loves building in deeply technical environments, and takes pride in shipping things that work in the real world.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the end-to-end product strategy, roadmap, and zero-to-one execution
- Lead customer discovery, identify high-value use cases, and translate insights into product requirements
- Partner closely with engineering and AI teams to scope, prioritize, and deliver core features
- Prototype, test, and iterate quickly to validate functionality and product–market fit
- Drive field deployments, ensuring products operate reliably in real-world environments
- Establish early product development processes, quality standards, and documentation
- Collaborate with founders on go-to-market strategy, positioning, and customer-facing narratives
- Influence company culture, contribute to hiring, and help build the foundation of the product organization
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of product management experience, including significant zero-to-one or early-stage product work
- Strong technical fluency; comfortable working with engineers, AI researchers, and hardware/sensing teams
- Proven success in deeply technical domains such as AI/ML, robotics, geospatial intelligence, sensor systems, or data infrastructure
- Experience running customer discovery, synthesizing insights, and defining product requirements from scratch
- Ability to prioritize ruthlessly, navigate ambiguity, and make fast, high-quality decisions
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, able to articulate vision and align cross-functional teams
- Thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on, founder-like environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multimodal sensing (vision, audio, radar) and real-time intelligence systems
- Background in AI research, robotics, mapping, or computer vision-heavy products
- Familiarity with public-sector, mobility, safety, or infrastructure markets
- Prior experience in a founding or early product role at an early-stage startup
- Comfort with both strategic thinking and rolling up your sleeves to execute
