Professional Land Surveyor
Location: Dickinson, ND | Full-Time (40 hours/week. 60% in office, 40% field-based)
Our client is seeking an experienced Professional Land Surveyor to lead survey operations that support infrastructure, land development, and utility projects. This role provides technical leadership across field and office efforts—ensuring accurate data collection, boundary resolution, topographic mapping, and high-quality deliverables that guide engineering and construction decisions.
You’ll oversee surveying activities from initial site investigations through final mapping, collaborate with project managers and technical teams, and ensure work is completed in alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and project goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and review boundary, topographic, construction staking, and easement surveys.
- Research and interpret deeds, plats, easements, ROWs, and other property records to resolve complex boundary issues.
- Process and validate field data, notes, and digital files; support drafting/GIS teams with accurate mapping inputs.
- Prepare survey maps, legal descriptions, exhibits, and documentation required for project approvals and land transactions.
- Oversee QA/QC standards for measurements, documentation, and data integrity.
- Coordinate field investigations, verify site conditions, and certify the accuracy of spatial data.
- Develop survey deliverables including maps, charts, tables, models, and technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support project budgeting, scheduling, and task management; mentor junior staff as needed.
- Maintain survey equipment, ensure proper calibration, and support continuous improvement in survey methods and tools.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, agencies, communities, and cross-disciplinary project teams.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license—required.
- 5 years of relevant survey experience, including boundary, topographic, ROW, easement, and property description work.
- Strong understanding of survey principles, legal boundary research, codes, and regulatory practices.
- Proficiency with survey instruments, GPS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and related software.
- Experience supporting or coordinating with project managers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and communicate complex spatial information.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and mentor others.
- Ability to work both in the field and office; occasional travel may be required.
- Ability to navigate uneven terrain and lift equipment as needed for typical survey activities.
Salary : $100,000 - $140,000
