Role Overview
We are hiring a seasonal Summer Camp Site Director to serve as the primary onsite supervisor for a youth summer camp.
The Site Director is responsible for keeping daily camp operations safe, organized, and positive. This role includes supervising camp staff, supporting attendance and daily logistics, managing transitions and dismissal, overseeing outdoor activities and field trips, helping implement pond/swim-time procedures, communicating with parents and staff, and coordinating with off-site management.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The ideal candidate has experience in youth programs, recreation, enrichment, after-school programming, camps, school-age childcare, or similar settings.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary onsite leader during camp hours
- Supervise camp staff and help ensure staff are following daily procedures
- Support camper attendance, rosters, sign-in/sign-out, and dismissal procedures
- Help manage daily transitions, group movement, breaks, lunch, outdoor time, and activity blocks
- Oversee field trip procedures and help ensure campers are accounted for at all times
- Support pond, swim-time, or water-activity procedures when applicable
- Communicate professionally with parents, staff, site contacts, and management
- Help resolve routine camper behavior, staffing, and operational issues
- Maintain a safe, organized, and positive camp environment
- Report incidents, concerns, supply needs, staffing issues, and parent concerns promptly
- Participate in required training and follow all camp policies and procedures

Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in a camp, school, recreation, childcare, or youth program setting
- Prior leadership, supervisory, or site management experience strongly preferred
- Ability to lead staff onsite and make practical decisions during the camp day
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to manage transitions, outdoor activities, attendance, and dismissal procedures
- Comfort working outdoors and adapting to weather, field trips, enrollment changes, and daily operational needs
- Must be reliable, professional, and safety-focused
- Must complete required background checks and any required pre-camp training
Schedule
The schedule may vary based on enrollment, staffing, field trips, weather, and daily camp operations. This role generally involves full camp days, and some days may be approximately 9 to 10 hours.
Overtime and paid meal periods will be handled in accordance with applicable law. When the Site Director is required to remain on duty during lunch or continue overseeing camp operations, that time will be paid.

This person does not need to know every answer immediately, but should be able to communicate clearly, follow procedures, solve practical problems, and maintain a positive environment for campers and staff.
Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
