Industrial Paint Specialist

General summary

The Industrial Paint Specialist performs coatings and paint applications, and other tasks relative to industrial coatings.

Primary functions & responsibilities

• Must be able to read and interpret paint specifications and understanding of how to test/confirm the correct coating was applied.
• Properly prepare products for prime and paint. This may involve washing, drying, cleaning with solvents, wire brushing, and sanding.
• Operate various types of equipment such as spray guns.
• Knowledge of various painting methods and applications.
• Mix paints to desired colors and consistencies.
• Spray with consistent millage.
• Examine finished surfaces to ensure quality texture.
• Understanding and reading of drawings and/or blueprints.
• Must be able to provide hands-on training.
• Safe operation of tools and equipment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience of progressive responsibility in painting and/or coatings.
• Experience and ability with conventional spray systems.
• Ability to apply all types of coating using various application methods.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and drawings.

Working conditions

• The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.
• There is machinery, moving equipment, and electrical hand tools at the job site.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical demand

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• The employee is repeatedly required to climb vertical ladders.
• The employee is also regularly required to talk, hear, or smell as well as use hands to finger, handle or feel.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
