EnquBio is a technology-driven discovery and contract research organization (CRO) based in San Diego, providing biology-focused preclinical drug discovery services. As we continue to expand our in vivo capabilities, we are seeking an accomplished scientific leader to join our senior leadership team as Head of In Vivo Pharmacology.
This role provides scientific leadership, operational oversight, and strategic direction for EnquBio’s in vivo pharmacology function. The successful candidate will drive departmental growth, oversee execution of client programs, and help shape EnquBio’s scientific strategy and market positioning. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in in vivo pharmacology with strong leadership experience in CRO, biotech, or pharmaceutical environments.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of the senior leadership team and lead EnquBio’s in vivo pharmacology function, including scientific strategy, operational execution, and business growth.
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing scientific team, ensuring strong scientific delivery, operational efficiency, and professional development.
- Develop and expand in vivo pharmacology capabilities, including new models, platforms, and service offerings aligned with scientific and market needs.
- Oversee study design, execution, data interpretation, and scientific quality across multiple client-sponsored in vivo programs.
- Lead departmental planning, including budget management, staffing projections, resource allocation, and achievement of operational and financial goals.
- Partner closely with business development and leadership teams to support client engagement, proposal development, and expansion of service offerings.
- Serve as a scientific and technical representative to clients and collaborators, fostering strong external partnerships and ensuring high client satisfaction.
- Support and develop strategic collaborations with industry partners to expand EnquBio’s scientific and commercial footprint.
- Ensure full compliance with institutional, regulatory, and EHS requirements across all laboratory and vivarium operations.
Qualifications
· PhD or MD in pharmacology, biology, or a related life sciences discipline with minimum 15 years of relevant experience in in vivo pharmacology within CRO, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical settings, including leadership responsibilities.
· Extensive hands-on expertise in rodent models and in vivo pharmacology study design, execution, and data analysis.
· Strong expertise in oncology, immuno-oncology, immunology, inflammation, or other relevant therapeutic areas preferred.
· Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing scientific teams in a fast-paced industry environment.
· Proven experience in budget management, resource planning, and cross-functional leadership at a senior level.
· Prior client-facing experience, including scientific presentations, technical discussions, and business development support.
· Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate scientific vision into actionable operational plans.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to clients, partners, and executive stakeholders.
· Ability to manage multiple concurrent programs while maintaining scientific rigor and operational excellence.
· Highly motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in a dynamic growth-stage organization.
· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:
This role involves working in laboratory, vivarium, and office environments. Candidates must be able to:
· Work with laboratory animals, biohazardous materials, and chemicals in compliance with applicable safety standards
· Perform routine laboratory and in vivo study procedures, including handling biological samples and research materials
· Wear required PPE including gloves, lab coat, respirator, and eye/face protection
· Stand, sit, and walk for extended periods; crouch, bend, twist, and reach as needed; perform tasks involving repetitive motions
· Routinely lift, push, or pull up to 10 lbs
· Work under standard laboratory and vivarium environmental conditions
· Possess visual acuity sufficient to perform detailed laboratory work and data review
