Role Description The LEGACY TELCOM SWITCHING SPECIALIST is a 1-5 year part time or fulltime on-site role based in Kailua, HI. This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing legacy telecom switching systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring system performance, performing diagnostics on switching hardware and software, documenting configurations and changes, and coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to resolve technical issues. The specialist will implement upgrades or migration plans when needed, ensure system reliability and security, and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities. The role also involves contributing to process improvements, supporting project teams with specialized telecom requirements, and complying with relevant industry and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of legacy telecom switching systems, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with telecommunications infrastructure (e.g., PBX, digital and analog switches, cabling, signaling protocols).
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, system schematics, and vendor documentation.
- Proficiency in documenting system configurations, maintenance logs, and standard operating procedures.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities on-site.
- Familiarity with relevant telecommunications standards, safety practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
