Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Supportive Employment Specialist to empower individuals with disabilities, including developmental disabilities and autism, to achieve meaningful employment opportunities. This role is vital in fostering independence, enhancing workforce development, and promoting social inclusion within diverse communities. As a key member of our social services team, you will provide personalized support, coaching, and mentorship to clients as they navigate the path toward sustainable employment. Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized employment plans tailored to each client’s strengths, interests, and goals, ensuring alignment with their abilities and aspirations.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to clients on job readiness skills, workplace etiquette, and effective communication strategies.
  • Assist clients with resume writing, interview preparation, and job searching techniques to enhance their employment prospects.
  • Collaborate with local employers and workforce development programs to identify suitable job placements and foster ongoing employer relationships.
  • Conduct outreach and engagement activities within culturally diverse communities and underserved populations to promote workforce inclusion.
  • Maintain detailed case management records, documenting progress, challenges, and success stories in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Deliver training sessions on social services topics such as addiction counseling, disability awareness, and workplace accommodations to clients and community partners.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or other disabilities in a social services or coaching capacity.
  • Knowledge of employment & labor law as it pertains to individuals with disabilities and workplace accommodations.
  • Strong understanding of workforce development programs, social work principles, and case management practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction, documentation, and training purposes.
  • Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse communities and underserved populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for report writing and data management.
  • Experience in recruiting, interviewing, mentoring, training & development, and client advocacy is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with employers, community organizations, and service providers to support client employment goals.
  • A background in addiction counseling or related social services is a plus but not required; relevant certifications are advantageous.
