Overview:

As a rapidly growing entrepreneurial company, we are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic controller with excellent accounting, general business, and communication skills.  Our ideal candidate has a genuine interest and passion in working in a fast-paced, small-company culture and is a committed team player.

 

The Controller plans, manages, measures, regulates, and communicates the finances of company. The Controller will ultimately be responsible for all accounting and financial procedures and policies to ensure the financials are timely and accurately reported in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This individual will be heavily involved in production operations, inventory costing, commission calculations, pricing, and will be heavily involved in the budget planning process.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage all accounting operations including payroll, billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, inventory accounting and revenue recognition.
  • Develop financial strategy, including risk minimization plans and opportunity forecasting.
  • Work with management to develop an annual financial budget/plan and monthly/quarterly reporting and forecasting.
  • Understand, manage, and control costs to achieve financial goals of the company.
  • Provide consultative support to drive positive results through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
  • Bring strong financial stability through monthly and annual close processes, internal controls, cost discipline and forecasting accuracy.
  • Supervise and manage financial/accounting team including accounting and bookkeeping associates.
  • Advise on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and operations.
  • Support Operations departments to identify costing variances and partner with operations team to drive improvements.
  • Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Analyze and report results on daily/weekly/monthly commissions, KPI’s and MBO’s.
  • Organize and prepare information for and communication with external tax accountants and auditors.
  • Assist with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting.
  • Oversee company compliance with all additional legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships within the company.
  • Serve as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports to quarterly Board of Directors meetings.
  • Additional controller duties as needed.

 

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
  • Ideal candidate has 5 to 10 years of accounting experience (in manufacturing a plus), with 3-5 years in a supervisory/management capacity
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) a plus
  • Excellent computer skills; experience with NetSuite and Excel
  • Experience using ADP TotalSource
  • Must be able to work with all levels and departments to suggest improvements and efficiency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Direct experience in supporting multiple projects related to Manufacturing and R&D a plus.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail along with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work well with different departments within the company.
  • Must show initiative, critical thinking and good judgment in resolving issues.
  • Ability to provide professional written and verbal communications to internal and external groups.
  • Ability to work under pressure given time constraints.
  • Ability to analyze financial data to draw conclusions and drive results.
  • Strong cost accounting knowledge and managing inventories
  • Equity management using Carta a plus
