Data Warehouse Engineer

Location: Plano, TX (Hybrid) 3 days onsite 2 days remote

Duration: 12 months Contract (with high possibilities of extension)

Visa: w2 with 12 months visa validity

Description:

  • Key Skills – Python, Shell, Oracle, Data Warehousing (Perl very nice to have)
  • Data Warehouse Engineer w/ Backend Focus to maintain and improve architecture, tools and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement, configure, and manage Linux-based processes and infrastructure for data warehousing.
  • Identify and implement system/architecture improvements.
  • Enhance various Linux-based toolsets, scripts, jobs and processes.
  • Enhance ETL/database load/extract processes.

Required Skills And Experience We Are Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Data Warehouse Engineer with a strong emphasis on Shell Scripting and Oracle development.
  • Practical working experience in Linux environment setup and shell scripting
  • Practical knowledge of Unix file systems including basics of mount types, permissions, standard tools, pipes.
  • Working knowledge of Python and preferably also Perl.
  • Practical working experience with relational databases, preferably Oracle Exadata.
  • Understanding of the Agile methodology.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Passion for automation and continual process improvement.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM related field.

Desired Skills And Experience We Are Looking For:

  • Practical working experience using ETL tools, preferably Informatica.
  • Practical working experience using orchestration tools, preferably Airflow w/ Python.
  • Experience with data warehouses and knowledge of the data flows involved.
  • Willingness to take on problems outside of current skillset and experience.
