Purchasing Manager (Steel Manufacturing)

Position Summary

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement operations supporting our steel fabrication business. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, managing vendor relationships, controlling costs, and ensuring a consistent supply of materials to support production.

Key Responsibilities

Vendor Management

• Identify, evaluate, and develop strong relationships with suppliers
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to ensure best value
• Monitor vendor performance for quality, delivery, and reliability

Procurement Operations

• Source materials, equipment, and services to support steel production
• Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, including quotes, invoices, and contracts

Inventory & Production Support

• Partner with operations and warehouse teams to forecast material needs
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production without overstocking

Cost Management

• Analyze pricing trends and market conditions to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Continuously improve purchasing strategies to optimize spend

Compliance & Issue Resolution

• Ensure all purchasing activities align with company policies and standards
• Resolve supplier issues related to delays, shortages, or quality concerns

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Extensive knowledge of inventory control
• Experience using TEKLA highly preferred
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
• Ability to analyze data and forecast material requirements
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
