Dental Billing Clerk

Job Purpose

Billing administrators are an extension of each Enhance Dental office. They are essential in efficiently billing all patient claims to dental insurance, and/or receiving insurance payments for Enhance Dental offices.  The primary responsibility is to ensure accurate and timely processing of dental claims, billing, and insurance-related tasks. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for processing dental insurance claims. This involves submitting claims to insurance companies and following up on outstanding claims.

• Generate claims for dental services provided to patients, ensuring that accurate charges are applied based on the services rendered. This includes coding procedures and entering the relevant information into billing software.

• Review dental records and treatment plans to ensure accurate coding of procedures using dental coding systems. Proper coding is crucial for accurate billing and reimbursement.

• Monitor and manage accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate payment from insurance companies. They follow up on unpaid claims, address claim denials or discrepancies, and work to resolve any outstanding payment issues.

• Handle billing inquiries from internal stakeholders. This may involve discussing payment plans and insurance benefits to ensure prompt payment. 

• Stay up to date with dental coding and insurance regulations to ensure compliance with industry standards. They must adhere to legal and ethical guidelines when handling patient information and billing processes.

• Maintain accurate and organized records of patient billing and insurance information. They may also analyze data to identify trends or areas for improvement.

• Perform other job duties as assigned

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:  Prior experience with medical/dental billing preferred

Working Conditions

Works in a typical office setting with climate control; not a remote position

Required to sit and look at a computer screen for extended periods
