What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head High School Girls Wrestling Coach position at English Valleys Community School District?
Due to Retirement, English Valleys CSD is looking for a new Head High School Girls Wrestling Coach. This person is responsible for leading, developing, and managing all aspects of the sanctioned girls' wrestling program, focusing on skill, instruction, safety, and fostering a positive team culture.
Key duties include planning practices, managing competitions, mentoring student-athletes, communicating with parents/administration, and adhering to IGHSAU regulations.
Core Responsibilities
- Program Leadership: Organize and direct all aspects of the wrestling program, including scheduling, practice planning, and competition preparation.
- Instruction & Development: Teach wrestling techniques, strategies, and rules to athletes of various skill levels, focusing on both individual and team development.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce all school district and IGHSAU policies. Ensure proper injury prevention and emergency response (CPR/First Aid).
- Mentorship & Culture: Promote good sportsmanship, discipline, and academic success. Foster a positive, inclusive environment for female student-athletes.
- Administration: Manage equipment inventory and coordinate with the athletic director on scheduling and travel.
English Valleys CSD is based in North English, Iowa County, Iowa. This is approx. 10 miles South of I-80 and 30 miles West of the Coralville/Iowa City Corridor.
