ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Operates or checks the operation of all plant equipment at a main water treatment plant. (i.e., pumps, valves, electric motors, filters, etc.)
- Routes flow of water at treatment plant.
- Regulates and helps maintain records of flow, tank level, chemical feed rates, etc., between various stages of treatment.
- Reads meters and gauges.
- Performs tests of water including pH, chlorine, residual, conductivity, turbidity, etc.
- Conducts standardized tests.
- Maintains operating logs at all plants.
- Cleans, oils, and performs minor preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, and similar equipment.
- Keeps plant facilities clean and orderly.
- Makes minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Trainee:
- A High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Ability to obtain a Class "C" Water Treatment Plant Operators License within two (2) years
- Valid Florida Driver's License at time of hire
Operator:
- A High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Possession of a Class "A", "B", or "C" Water Treatment Plant Operators License as issued by the State of Florida
- Valid Florida Driver's License at time of hire
Compensation Details:
Treatment Plant Operator Trainee Starting Pay: $21.05
Treatment Plant Operator C Starting Pay: $22.52
Treatment Plant Operator B Starting Pay: $24.10
