Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Custom Cabinet Lead Painter to oversee painting projects for custom cabinetry and renovation sites. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of painting techniques, and a solid background in construction and finishing work. This role involves coordinating with project teams, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship, and maintaining safety standards on-site. The position offers an opportunity to lead specialized painting projects in residential and commercial settings, utilizing a broad skill set including surface preparation, color application, and finishing techniques.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise painting crews on custom cabinet and renovation projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards
- Prepare surfaces through sanding, caulking, plastering, and other prep work to ensure optimal paint adhesion
- Apply paint using various methods including airless spray, brushes, rollers, and specialty tools such as power tools and welding equipment when necessary
- Read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to accurately execute project specifications
- Select appropriate paints, stains, and finishes based on color theory principles and client preferences
- Perform detailed trim carpentry, fixture installation, stucco work, masonry repairs, and restoration tasks as needed
- Estimate materials required for each project using construction estimating skills
- Maintain safety protocols on-site including proper handling of chemicals, scaffolding setup, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and team members to ensure project specifications are met efficiently
- Keep detailed records of work performed and communicate progress regularly
Experience
- Proven experience in residential and commercial painting projects with a focus on cabinetry or renovation work
- Strong background in construction site experience including blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and remodeling processes
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, airless paint spraying equipment, welding tools, caulking guns, and other relevant hardware
- Knowledge of construction estimating techniques related to painting projects
- Familiarity with color theory principles for aesthetic application in cabinetry and interior finishes
- Experience with plastering, stucco application, framing carpentry, trim carpentry, fixture installation, restoration work, concrete finishing, masonry repairs, remodeling projects, maintenance tasks—including maintenance person experience—and industrial painting is highly desirable
- Ability to read technical schematics and schematics related to industrial or renovation projects
- Basic math skills for measuring surfaces and calculating material quantities
