ECI Group, the world’s leading specialist engineering contractor for low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) projects is accepting applications for a Mechanical Engineering Student Summer Internship to join our team in our Baton Rouge office. Consider joining our team of experienced mechanical design engineers developing the design and specification of fixed equipment [pressure vessels, heat exchangers, etc.} and rotating equipment [compressors, pumps, etc] as well as machinery packages [thermal oxidizers, pneumatic conveying systems, extruder/pelletizers, and other types of packaged equipment] for our petrochemical and advanced recycling business lines. This 8-week summer internship is scheduled to start June 9, 2025.
YOUR ROLE WITH THE COMPANY:
- This position reports directly to the Mechanical Design Engineering Section Leader
- Work alongside experienced mechanical design engineers to prepare engineering deliverables and become knowledgeable on the equipment necessary for each project.
- Become familiar with the codes and standards associated with the design of mechanical equipment and systems [reciprocating compressors and positive displacement pumps, pressure vessel heat exchangers] used in the design of high pressure LDPE production facilities.
- Gain a board understanding for the workflow of an EPC Project and interdepartmental dependencies.
BACKGROUND PROFILE:
- Must have completed your Junior Year towards your Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at an ABET accredited university.
- Good problem definition and problem-solving skills.
- Good technical and non-technical communication skills, both written and oral.
- Good command of MS Office applications.
- Ability to work as part of a group and on individual tasks within a larger team.
- Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
Preferred
- Previous summer internships or COOP student experience in a mechanical design engineering, operations or other technical role.
- Previous experience in a petrochemical design engineering environment
