Position Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support off-highway vehicle development programs, primarily within drive systems. This role focuses on the 3D routing, integration, and packaging of electrical harnesses and cables within large vehicle platforms.
This is a highly CAD-driven position that works closely with electrical system designers, mechanical engineers, and packaging teams to ensure proper routing, clearance, and manufacturability of electrical systems. The role does not involve schematic design, but instead relies on logical data provided by electrical engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform 3D routing of electrical harnesses and cables within large vehicle assemblies using Creo Cabling
- Optimize routing paths for clearance, serviceability, durability, and manufacturability
- Collaborate with electrical design teams to interpret and implement schematic/logical data into physical routing layouts
- Design and support mounting strategies, including selection and placement of clips, clamps, brackets, and other hardware
- Create and modify simple bracket designs as needed to support routing requirements
- Conduct clearance checks and interference analysis within full vehicle models
- Work with large-scale CAD assemblies (truck models) to ensure proper system integration
- Obtain and integrate supplier-provided CAD (STEP files) for connectors and related components
- Support both current production improvements and new product development efforts
- Participate in design reviews and collaborate across cross-functional engineering teams
- Utilize internal systems to request and manage part numbers and model data
Tools & Technologies
- Creo 8 (primary CAD tool, including Creo Cabling)
- Creo View for visualization, design reviews, and clearance validation
- Windchill (PTC) for data management and model storage
- GDMS or similar systems for part number management
- Office 365 / Microsoft Teams for communication and collaboration
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3 years of experience in 3D CAD-based design or routing (harness, cable, tubing, or similar systems)
- Strong experience with Creo (preferred) or similar 3D CAD platforms
- Experience working with large assemblies and complex packaging environments
- Understanding of mechanical integration and mounting strategies for routed systems
- Ability to interpret and apply electrical system data into physical layouts
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Creo Cabling module
- Background in off-highway, heavy equipment, automotive, or industrial machinery
- Familiarity with electrical connectors, harness components, and routing best practices
- Experience working with supplier CAD data (STEP files)
- Exposure to product lifecycle management systems (Windchill or similar)
