ESAPCO is seeking an experienced Safety & Compliance Manager to lead safety, environmental, and compliance initiatives across our manufacturing and warehouse operations. This position plays a key role in developing and maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment.
The Safety & Compliance Manager will work closely with leadership, managers, supervisors, and team members to identify safety risks, implement effective programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain company safety programs, handbooks, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, DNR, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct weekly safety walk-throughs and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Follow up with managers and supervisors to ensure identified safety concerns are addressed.
- Participate in accident, incident, and near-miss investigations.
- Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans to prevent future incidents.
- Maintain OSHA logs and complete required OSHA reporting.
- Inspect manufacturing, warehouse, and office facilities for existing or potential safety and health hazards.
- Develop and deliver safety training for new and current team members.
- Create and implement new safety programs based on operational and regulatory needs.
- Perform or coordinate industrial hygiene sampling as needed.
- Prepare and maintain safety reports, files, and regulatory records.
- Oversee the administration of the workers' compensation program with a focus on reducing lost-time incidents and claims.
- Participate in accident and injury investigations and assist with workers' compensation hearings, insurance investigations, and related matters.
- Serve as an active member of the company Safety Committee.
- Manage and coordinate internal first responders.
- Work with outside safety and compliance organizations to obtain certifications required for new business opportunities.
- Partner with the VP of Operations on initiatives related to ISO 9000 certification.
- Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in safety, environmental compliance, or risk management, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety requirements.
- Experience working with OSHA, EPA, and DNR regulations or agencies preferred. Completion of OSHA compliance training required.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver safety and compliance training programs.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with ERP software preferred.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Compliance, Risk Management, Operations, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- 2–5 years of related safety and/or compliance experience in a manufacturing or construction environment preferred.
