Associate Technical Writer

Job Description

Engineering Innovation, Inc. is looking for an Associate Technical Writer to produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products. You will join a team who works collaboratively with developers, quality engineers, product managers, and usability experts to make our products easier to use. Engineering Innovation, Inc. (EII). EII, a dynamic growth technology company, is a premier provider of postal and parcel automation and is located in Lafayette, IN (about 20 minutes from the campus of Purdue University).

This is a paid part-time position and is only open to U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents.

What You’ll Do

As an Associate Technical Writer, you will help create clear, professional, and user‑friendly documentation for Engineering Innovation’s products, software, and internal resources. You will work with subject matter experts (SMEs) from across the company to transform complex engineering concepts into content that is easy for users to understand.

Your Responsibilities May Include

Content Development & Documentation

• Help convert legacy documentation into Paligo, our Component Content Management System (CCMS)
• Use publishing tools to generate polished, customer‑facing documents
• Write and edit manuals, guides, emails, and technical documents
• Translate complex concepts into easy‑to‑understand language for both technical and non‑technical audiences
  
  

Visual Design & Layout

• Create graphics, capture images, and format content for clarity and visual appeal
• Apply writing and design skills to improve UX/UI for internal and external users
• Assist with layout and document design for print and web content
  
  

Collaboration & Research

• Set up meetings and interviews with SMEs (project managers, engineers, developers, and others)
• Gather information, ask the right questions, and ensure accuracy in all content
• Work closely with cross‑functional teams to understand product functionality and workflows

• Demonstrates strong writing and editing skills
• Can grasp technical concepts quickly and explain them simply
• Has excellent written communication skills in English
• Pays close attention to detail and consistency
• Has experience with Microsoft Office
• Has familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
