Role Overview
We are seeking a highly autonomous Software Engineer to become our first full-time software programmer at Engineered Vision. This role is foundational to our growth and will own the development of internal software systems that streamline operations, integrate our ERP, and reduce manual effort across the organization.
You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software solutions that connect business systems (ERP, accounting, quoting, scheduling, inventory, etc.) while ensuring data integrity and reasonable information security practices. This is a high-ownership role for a self-starter who enjoys wearing multiple hats and solving real operational problems with code.
Duties
1. ERP Integration & Business Systems
- Lead integration and customization of the company ERP system
- Build secure data pipelines between ERP, accounting, inventory, and project systems
- Reduce duplicate and manual data entry through automation
- Create scripts, services, or APIs to sync data across platforms
2. Process Automation & Internal Tools
- Identify manual or inefficient workflows and automate them
- Develop internal tools, dashboards, and utilities to support operations
- Build reliable background jobs, scripts, or services for recurring tasks
- Document systems and workflows for long-term maintainability
3. Databases & Data Management
- Design, query, and maintain databases
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance
- Implement backups, migrations, and basic data lifecycle management
- Support reporting and analytics needs across the business
4. Software Development & Architecture
- Design and implement clean, maintainable software solutions
- Use modern development tools (Cursor or similar AI-assisted IDEs) to move fast
- Select appropriate technologies and frameworks with minimal overhead
- Own code quality, version control, testing, and deployment practices
5. Information Security & Reliability
- Apply practical information security best practices across systems
- Manage access controls, credentials, and permissions
- Protect sensitive business and customer data
- Support basic compliance, auditing, and incident response needs
6. IT & Web Support (As Needed)
- Support light IT tasks such as system integrations, user access, and tooling
- Assist with internal web tools or company website updates when required
- Troubleshoot software-related issues across the business
Required Qualifications
- ~2 years of professional software development experience
- ~1 year of experience using Cursor or similar AI-assisted development tools
- Hands-on experience working with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)
- Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience automating workflows or integrating business systems
Preferred Qualifications
- ERP integration or customization experience
- Experience implementing basic information security practices
- IT or systems administration background
- Web development experience (internal tools, dashboards, or sites)
- Experience in a small business or startup environment
