Responsibilities

  • Represent ESI as an ambassador to clientele, design teams, city officials, water districts, and subcontractors.
  • Manage all aspects of a construction project, including bidding, construction/operation, project close-out, and warranty.
  • Establish, monitor, and thoroughly understand project finances.
  • Generate, track, and maintain complex construction schedules.
  • Search out, contract with, negotiate with, and effectively manage a diverse group of subcontractors.
  • Resolve prime contract and subcontract disputes.
  • Manage project documentation, including RFI’s, submittals, plan changes (ASI’s, CCD’s, etc.).
  • Regularly visit jobsites to meet with clients and verify adherence to project documents and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with other support departments to identify and resolve project issues.
  • Regularly report project status to superiors and clients.
  • Effectively train and develop other team members.

  • Working knowledge of DEQ, EPA, AWWA, and local utility design/construction standards
  • Extensive knowledge of building construction, materials, means and methods, scheduling, project accounting and cost control procedures, general contract structure, general conditions, subcontract documents, construction drawings and specifications.
  • Competence in representing ESI as an ambassador to clientele, design teams, city officials, and subcontractors.
  • Strong management and interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibits high emotional intelligence.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to comprehend, simplify, and convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Skilled at problem solving; resilient and determined to find or create solutions.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Can effectively search, navigate, and interpret contract documents.
  • Adept at managing project documentation, including RFI’s, submittals, plan changes (ASI’s, CCD’s, etc.).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite programs; specifically, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Proficient in scheduling and tracking software tools such as MS Project, P6 (Primavera), and/or Suretrack.
  • Possesses organizational skills and is detail oriented.
  • Exemplifies a customer service-focused attitude.
  • Able to delegate tasks and follow up to ensure successful completion.
  • Positive contribution to ESI’s culture and active participation in company events and programs.
  • Bachelors of Science in Construction Management or Engineering.
  • Has at least five (5) years of industry experience.
  • General knowledge of LEED / Green Building principles and requirements.
  • Can successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously with contract values ranging from $1M to $15M each, or individual complex projects ranging from $10M to $40M.
  • Current safety certifications, including OSHA 30-hour.
  • SWPPP certification (desired).
  • Demonstrated the history of excellent customer service.
  • Track record of on-time, within-budget, quality construction projects.
  • Aptitude in training and developing other team members.
  • Confidence in navigating and understanding prime contracts.
  • Ability to manage a team of people to achieve specific project requirements, including Project Engineers (PE), Assistant Project Managers (APM), and Project Coordinators (PC).

  • Fast-paced working environment.
  • Working environment may be busy and noisy.
  • This position requires outdoor work, with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • This role may occasionally require working in high, precarious places; near fumes or airborne particles; and handling toxic or caustic chemicals. There is also a risk of electrical shock and vibration in certain situations.
  • Interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of team members, and outside vendors.
  • Working environment may be busy and noisy.

Physical Demands

  • This position may require frequent travel by motor vehicle.
  • The role may involve extended hours on construction sites, necessitating physical stamina to move around the premises.
  • The ability to lift and/or move materials and tools is essential, with a maximum weight limit of 50lbs. These tasks may vary and are not required to be performed daily.
  • Effective and professional communication and interaction with supervisors, employees, and others, whether individually or in a team environment, are vital aspects of the role.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and the ability to follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment guidelines, and company policies, are necessary for performing work safely and effectively.

Travel Requirements

May occasionally be required to travel to project sites and pre-bid meetings. May be asked to relocate on site for 6-12 months, depending on project schedule and needs.
