Position Overview
The Director of Business Intelligence leads the BI team that delivers CPG and retail analytics — dashboards, data models, and self-service reporting — that inform decisions across the organization. The role combines people leadership, platform oversight, and close partnership with commercial, product, and executive stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of BI analysts (Analyst I through Principal), including hiring, performance management, and career development conversations
- Deliver the BI roadmap and prioritize work in alignment with business objectives and stakeholder needs
- Partner with Product, Operations, CSMs, Data Management, and executive stakeholders to define and execute on analytics strategy
- Oversee the design and delivery of dashboards, data models, and self-service reporting capabilities across retail and CPG use cases
- Establish and enforce standards for data quality, metric governance, dashboard design, and BI documentation
- Drive agile delivery practices within the team, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in BI or analytics, with 3 years in a people management role
- Deep expertise in SQL and relational or cloud-based database platforms
- Proficiency in data visualization tools and the ability to coach a team on their use
- Demonstrated experience leading performance management and career development conversations
- Experience operating in Agile or iterative delivery environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
Nice to Have
- Experience with Power BI for enterprise reporting and self-service analytics
- Familiarity with Databricks or similar lakehouse/data platform environments
- Background in retail analytics or syndicated data (e.g., Scintilla, Nielsen, IRI, SPINS)
