What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Operator position at Engine Clean?
CNC Operator
Full-time · Garland/Mesquite, TX · On-site
HAAS SL-10 CNC Lathe | HAAS TM-1 CNC Mill | Competitive Pay
About the role
We are looking for a skilled and dependable CNC Operator to join our team. You will operate CNC and conventional machines to produce precision parts from engineering drawings, sketches, and existing samples. This is a hands-on role requiring both technical machining expertise and the ability to think independently when reverse-engineering parts or developing new concepts from scratch. The work schedule is regular and predictable, though flexibility for occasional emergency orders is expected. CNC programming experience for HAAS controls (G-code / conversational) — ability to convert engineering drawings into machine-ready programs for the SL-10 and TM-1 is a strong plus but not required.
Core responsibilities
- Operate the HAAS SL-10 CNC lathe and HAAS TM-1 CNC mill to produce finished parts from existing programs
- Navigate machine control interfaces to retrieve, review, and run programs already loaded in the machines
- Set up tooling, fixtures, and offsets; verify first-article parts before production runs
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T to understand part geometry and tolerances
- Create accurate sketches of existing parts for reverse-engineering or documentation purposes
- Measure and inspect parts using vernier calipers, micrometer screw gauges, thread gauges, and other precision instruments
- Machine a variety of thread forms including NPT, UNC/UNF, and buttress threads
- Operate conventional lathes and drill presses for secondary and prototype work
- Suggest and communicate machining modifications when new concept parts or reverse-engineered components require it
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to all shop safety protocols
- Respond to urgent/emergency orders with professionalism while managing ongoing regular work
