The Hospitality Administration Extern will gain experience in realizing the operational management roles of the Executive Director and Department Directors, including Community Relations (marketing), Wellness (healthcare), Case Management, Programming, Housekeeping, Food and Dining Services. The Hospitality Administration Extern will develop a deeper appreciation for various hospitality systems involving operations, human resources, marketing, and design techniques that are implemented in a unique and fun environment. The Hospitality Administration Extern will gain a comprehensive understanding of healthcare administration policies, procedures, and governmental regulations associated with the assisted living industry, while delivering distinctively elevated assisted living services and accommodations. REQUIREMENTS:Must be pursuing a degree in Hospitality Administration, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Gerontology or other related fields.Interest in pursuing a career in the management of assisted living communities.Excellent work ethic, and strong interpersonal skills.Eager to learn, take initiative, and multi-task effectively.Excellent ability to communicate with employees, residents, staff, etc.Detail oriented, problem solver, and helpful.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:Closely observe the Executive Director and Director of Administrative Services performing their day-to-day responsibilities and tasks as they relate to concierge, fiscal, human resources, and resident services of the community.Shadow department heads to gain a better understanding of what is expected of the staff in each department.Perform administrative and clerical duties as needed under the supervision of a director and tenured team member.Learn and observe the implementation of mandates and standards set forth by the New York State Department of Health.Develop soft skills that are integral to the industry: interpersonal, communication, leadership, organizational, executive presence, and cultural diversity awareness.Act as a familiar and friendly face to the residents during all shifts.Adhere to company policy and HIPPA guidelines.
