Maintenance Supervisor (Hands-On)

Summary
Engauge is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team in a fast-paced plastic injection molding facility. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing all equipment repairs, machine moves, troubleshooting, and the scheduling of routine plant maintenance activities. This position requires strong technical ability paired with leadership skills to train and guide maintenance technicians.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
- Diagnose machine malfunctions and operational issues; inspect machinery and observe performance to determine root causes of breakdowns.
- Perform repairs and adjustments to ensure machinery remains production-ready.
- Repair and maintain equipment per blueprints, manuals, catalogs, and technical data.
- Disassemble, rebuild, and overhaul machinery and components—including inspection, machining, or replacement of parts.
- Identify and select replacement items from parts lists and catalogs; fabricate or machine repair parts as needed.
- Perform machinist-level tasks related to installing new machine tools or relocating existing equipment.
- Collaborate with project teams on equipment moves or large-scale maintenance initiatives.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Train, coach, and mentor members of the Maintenance Team to enhance skill development and ensure safe, efficient operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Accredited journeyman apprenticeship in machine repair preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in diversified machine operations, ideally within a manufacturing or injection molding environment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of machining technology, mechanical principles, electrical codes, and troubleshooting techniques
- Ability to read blueprints, perform job layout, and use precision measuring tools
- Familiarity with machine setups, tooling applications, and advanced shop math
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and safely move heavier items with proper equipment
- Capable of operating hoists and lifting equipment effectively and safely
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide technicians in a hands-on environment
