Job Title: Accounting Assistant / Data Entry Position
The Accounting Assistant/Data Entry role provides essential support to the finance department by accurately entering data, maintaining financial records, and assisting with routine accounting tasks. This position requires strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter and verify financial data in accounting systems with a high level of accuracy
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
- Reconcile bank statements, vendor statements, and other financial records
- Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems
- Prepare and update spreadsheets, reports, and basic financial summaries
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities
- Communicate with vendors, clients, and internal staff as needed to resolve discrepancies
- Assist with invoice preparation, check runs, and payment posting
- Perform general clerical duties, including scanning, copying, and filing documents
- Provide administrative support to the accounting team as requested
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in Accounting or related field preferred
- Previous accounting or data entry experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
- Strong data entry skills with excellent accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- Good organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Work Environment
- Office-based role with routine computer and clerical work
- May require occasional lifting of files or office supplies (up to 20 lbs)
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
