Our opening for an Assistant General Counsel and Human Resources Consultant is available now, but it won’t last long! This full-time, exempt position will be a part of the Amazing Human Resources Services Department to provide an interface to business clients regarding employee relations, human resources, and compliance issues. The Assistant General Counsel and Human Resources Consultant will report directly to the Associate General Counsel, VP of HR Services of Human Resources.
Location: Mid-West Based
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary HR partner to business clients regarding employee relations, human resources, and compliance issues
- Strategize with clients and Human Resources and Account Management teams to create and deliver comprehensive HR solutions to our clients
- Develop, draft, and implement policies, procedures, and agreements for a variety of human resources and employment-related issues
- Anticipate and mitigate potential compliance problems as they pertain to employment matters
- Develop strategies to reduce potential areas of risk
- Assist with oversight of employment litigation matters, including management of EPLI panel counsel
- Ability to negotiate and draft agreements, as appropriate
- Research and draft documents related to employment law updates
- Regularly conduct employment-related investigations
- Regularly present human resources and compliance training
- Work collaboratively and effectively with others
- Productively work from home with minimal supervision
- Engage in significant client interaction for HR compliance
- Provide employment counsel for Engage of Family Companies
- Complete required domestic travel, the majority of which is in California
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong research and writing skills regarding employment-law issues
- Outstanding interpersonal and consulting skills
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and individually
- Ability to prioritize and execute deliverables in a fast-paced environment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Must be admitted to Illinois State Bar
- At least three (3) years of employment litigation experience
- California and multistate employment law experience
- Experience handling employment-related audits and drafting agency responses
- Additional proficiency in another language
- PEO or ASO experience is preferred
- ClientSpace and PrismHR knowledge is a plus
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The salary range targeted for this position is listed below. However, you should know that the pay rate may vary based on regional location, the candidate’s skill, and relevant experience. In addition, some positions may include a form of bonus or other incentive compensation, which would not be included in this salary range.
Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000
