Position Summary
Enfield Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered High School Career Specialist to join our team. This role works collaboratively with the School Counseling Department to support students in exploring post-secondary opportunities, including college, careers, and workforce pathways.
The Career Specialist will play a key role in preparing students for life after graduation by facilitating career exploration experiences, coordinating employer engagement, and helping students develop essential workforce readiness skills.
Key Responsibilities
Career Exploration
- Collaborate with the School Counseling Department to support students in identifying and exploring career pathways aligned with their interests and goals.
- Provide resources and guidance to help students make informed decisions about post-secondary education and employment opportunities.
Workforce Preparation
- Assist students in developing professional resumes, cover letters, and job applications.
- Provide coaching on interview skills, workplace etiquette, and professional communication.
- Support readiness for both employment and higher education environments.
Event Coordination
- Organize and coordinate career-related events such as guest speaker sessions, informational presentations, and panel discussions.
- Support the School Counseling Department in planning and executing career fairs and college/career exploration events.
- Manage logistics for on-site and virtual programming involving external partners.
Networking & Partnerships
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and post-secondary institutions.
- Coordinate student internships, job-shadowing experiences, and mentoring opportunities.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and workforce partners to expand student opportunities.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a school setting or with groups of students strongly preferred.
- Experience related to career development, workforce training, or youth programming is a plus.
Skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate high school students.
- Experience with event planning and coordination.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in data entry, tracking, and basic analysis.
- Commitment to student mentorship and equitable access to opportunities.
Employment Status
This is a full-time position and is classified as a non-union, at-will position, subject to the personnel policies of Enfield Public Schools.
