What are the responsibilities and job description for the Harvest Forklift Driver position at Enfield Farms?
Summary
The Harvest Forklift Operator is responsible for loading and unloading incoming and outgoing flatbed trucks consisting of raw fruit product and empty flats/ lugs, as well as transporting fruit product to and from coolers. Also responsible for safely and efficiently receiving fruit with the correct quantities for daily production.
Receiving Incoming Fruit
- Unload incoming fruit and load outgoing empty flats/ lugs
- Ensure all fruit products received have proper labeling prior to unloading and storage
- Verify all quantities received correctly
- Keep cooler up to date for production
- Utilizes time management and organization systems to maintain groups of fruit type and maintain cooler capacity
- Prepare cooling process for fruit to go into MACS Cooler
Production Staging
- Validate quantity necessary to shuttle fruit for production cooler
- Be in constant communication with production to maintain fruit inventory for the day
- Responsible for staging enough fruit for following production day
Daily Duties
- Assist in keeping coolers and sticker shack clean and organized
- Performs daily inspections and maintenance on needed equipment/ materials or labels
- Assists in maintaining logbooks completed for opening and closing checklist
- Responsible for inspecting and maintaining propane forklifts clean and filled with fuel
Work Environment
Works in low temperatures of cooler storage daily and consistently works on forklift. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), in high, precarious places, near toxic or caustic chemicals, in outdoor weather conditions, in risk of electrical shock. Employees occasionally work in moderate to loud environments.
Physical Demands
Employee required to frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to and more than 80 pounds. Employee frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. Employee occasionally required to climb or balance and taste or smell.
