Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, responsible, and reliable Live-In Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support adults with developmental disabilities in a residential group home setting. The DSP will assist individuals with daily living activities, promote independence, and support them in participating safely in the community.
This role is ideal for someone who is patient, dependable, and passionate about helping individuals live fulfilling and meaningful lives.
### Responsibilities
- Provide daily support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene
- Assist with meal preparation, medication reminders, and household tasks
- Support individuals in community outings, recreational activities, and appointments
- Implement and follow Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and behavioral supports when needed
- Maintain daily documentation and progress notes as required by agency and Medicaid regulations
- Monitor individuals’ health, safety, and emotional well-being
- Assist with transportation to appointments, programs, and community activities
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive home environment
### Required Experience
- At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or behavioral needs preferred
- Experience in group homes, residential settings, or caregiving roles is highly preferred
- Experience assisting with personal care and hygiene support
### Required Qualifications & Documents
Applicants must have or be able to obtain the following:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Reliable vehicle for transportation
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- TB Test
- Background Check (Criminal History Check)
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Ability to meet Virginia DBHDS caregiver requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
Training may be provided for certain certifications if needed.
