Position: IT Business Analyst - ERP Systems
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst with strong ERP expertise to serve as a critical bridge between our business operations and IT teams. This role requires a professional who can leverage their comprehensive understanding of enterprise resource planning systems to analyze business requirements, optimize system configurations, and drive continuous improvements across our ERP landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering
- Elicit, analyze, and document detailed business requirements for ERP enhancements, configurations, and new implementations
- Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and process mapping sessions to understand current state and define future state solutions
- Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable functional specifications for technical teams
- Develop business cases and cost-benefit analyses for proposed system enhancements and process improvements
ERP System Expertise
- Serve as subject matter expert for ERP modules across finance and supply chains
- Configure and customize ERP applications to meet business requirements while maintaining system integrity
- Analyze system workflows, security, and integration points to optimize performance
- Stay current on ERP updates, patches, and new functionality to recommend opportunities for improvement
- Support ERP upgrades and implementations by assessing impact and developing transition strategies
Process Optimization & Analysis
- Map and analyze end-to-end business processes across key functional areas
- Identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements leveraging ERP capabilities
- Design optimized workflows that balance business needs with system best practices
- Document current state and future state process flows with detailed specifications
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Develop comprehensive test plans and test cases for ERP configurations and customizations
- Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) efforts, coordinating with business users and IT teams
- Validate system functionality against business requirements and ensure quality standards
- Troubleshoot issues and work with technical teams to resolve defects
Stakeholder Management & Training
- Build strong relationships with business stakeholders across departments
- Facilitate communication between business users, IT developers, and third-party vendors
- Provide training and support to end users on system functionality and new features
- Create user guides, training materials, and system documentation
- Serve as escalation point for complex ERP-related business questions
Project Support
- Participate in ERP implementation, upgrade, and enhancement projects
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely delivery of requirements and deliverables
- Support change management activities to drive user adoption of system changes
- Track and report on requirements status, issues, and risks
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
- 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in IT or enterprise systems environments
- 3 years of hands-on experience with enterprise ERP systems
- Strong functional knowledge of at least one major ERP functional area: Supply Chain: Procurement, Inventory, Order Management, Finance, Manufacturing
- Understanding of ERP architecture, configuration tools, and reporting capabilities
- Proven ability to gather requirements, create functional specifications, and manage stakeholder expectations
- Experience with system testing methodologies and UAT coordination
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep experience with PeopleSoft ERP systems
- PeopleSoft-specific knowledge including PeopleTools, Application Designer, PS Query, and navigation
- PeopleSoft certification in relevant modules (FSCM, Supply Chain)
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft integration technologies (Integration Broker, Web Services, Component Interfaces)
- Experience with PeopleSoft reporting tools (BI Publisher, PS Query, nVision)
- Familiarity with SQL and database query tools for data analysis
- CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or similar BA certification
- Experience with other major ERP platforms (Oracle EBS, SAP, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage X3)
- Experience with ERP implementations or major upgrade projects
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Experience with complementary systems that integrate with ERP platforms
Technical Skills
- ERP system navigation and configuration
- System reporting and query tools
- SQL for data analysis and validation
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint)
- Process mapping and documentation tools
- Requirements management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar)
